What is the Second Coming of Christ?

This is the return of Christ to earth. He’ll destroy His enemies, save Israel, judge the nations and reign as king on earth for 1000 years.

All Christ’s Saints (those who believed in Him as their saviour and were cleansed by His blood) will return with Him. It is a different event from the Rapture. The Rapture of the church can happen at any time and will take place in the air – we will be ‘caught up’ with Him. The coming of Christ will only happen at the end of the 7 year Tribulation. When it happens, Christ will place His foot on the Mount of Olives and there will be no uncertainty – every eye shall see and every ear shall hear it¹. The Bible states many events that needs to happen before Christ will return. Among those are the reign of the antichrist, the mark of the beast and the Gog and Magog invasion (Ezekiel 38 – 39) to name a few.

At this time, Jesus will judge the nations still alive on earth at His return (see Sheep and Goat Judgement). Satan will be bound and thrown into the bottomless pit, but not yet cast into hell. The antichrist and false prophet will be cast into hell. They’ll be hell’s first inhabitants.
